Hello!!! I'm Jason Efhan the President of the Live To Heal Others
Foundation and I was paralyzed
from my chest to lower extremities after a motor vehicle accident in 2006.
I was diagnosed as having
an Asia - A Complete Spinal Cord Injury and I've been going through the toughest challenges of my life. But I've
been very fortunate to have the support of family and friends to help me in my efforts to heal.
However,
during my hospital stay and rehabilitation, I noticed that others with spinal cord injuries (SCI) were not so fortunate.
Many people with SCI had only basic SCI therapy equipment, limited amount of therapy time and they were not pushed
to their personal capabilities.
Furthermore, I saw many young men and women who had been shot... often randomly,
plus others who had suffered injuries related to car accidents, diving, falls or other non-related work accidents. They
had very little family support, minimal or no insurance coverage and limited opportunities for continued out-patient therapy.”
Accordingly, their opportunities to reach a full recovery were limited.
“Additionally, doctors, psychologists,
social workers and agency personnel told me of spinal cord-injured individuals who had medical insurance but it would
not cover the costs for the proper physical therapy and body/mind therapy they needed.
So, they
never continued physical therapy, didn’t receive any body/mind therapy, and never continued to help themselves regulate
their bodies and so their quality of life slowly diminished.
So to help individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries
to reach a full recovery I formed the Live To Heal Others Foundation from my
hospital room bed.
The intent of the Live To Heal Others Foundation is
to help people with spinal cord injuries reach their greatest healing potential.
